Exercising Our Ear Muscles with ACE, the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble

When you listen to programs such as This American Life or Radiolab, you are drawn in by the storyteller (narrator, host), the story and the sounds that aurally illustrate the story. The elements are generally recorded separately and come together in the production room.  What the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble (ACE) did on May 14th in WCVE’s Studio A was to create a program with all of these elements live before a studio audience adding to it a top notch live concert to their program “Exercising Our Ear Muscles with the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble.”

Termed “part radio show, part live concert,” the program included moments of musical insight by one WCVE Public Radio listener, an interview with Julian Treasure, a man who has devoted his life to the subject of listening versus hearing, listening exercises for listener and hosts alike, ACE member Ralph Skiano and ACE producer, Will Rogers and moments of sheer musical bliss.

I hope you enjoy the program and the photos.

Our special thanks to Richmond Piano for providing the beautiful Schimmel piano that was used for this broadcast.

Applause, applause! Wonderful performance. Richmond is so fortunate to have WCVE and ACE.

Thank you Carolyn. It would not have been possible without you and Richmond Piano! Bobbie

Bravo, ACE. You continue to break new ground and set an example for other ensembles about what is possible.

Hi Eric,

I'll be sure to point out your comment to the members of ACE.  Thank you so much for listening.

Bobbie
