“In Your Ear” Music Series Premieres September 3

For 10 years, local non-profit JAMinc has brought musical artists “deserving a wider audience” to Richmond concert halls and schools. Most of the performances have been within the intimate and acoustically pristine confines of In Your Ear Music and Recording in Shockoe Bottom, where they were carefully recorded on state-of-the-art multi-track equipment. Now many of those performances will indeed gain a wider audience, as WCVE Public Radio will air 13 sessions of In Your Ear, an hour-long compilation of the best of JAMinc’s continuing monthly concert series. The show debuts September 3rd at 1:00 p.m. on WCVE Public Radio.
Host Tim Timberlake and In Your Ear studio president Carlos Chafin are producing the programs, which will feature three acts each week, reflecting the diversity and range of these special concerts. The eclectic selections cover many genres -- including bluegrass, jazz, blues, old time, Celtic, gospel and singer-songwriters of many styles.
Artists range from superior local and regional talents, to premier acts from all over the country. Grammy winner Howard Levy, the world’s foremost diatonic harmonica player, serves up gypsy jazz, Indian ragas, and complex Bulgarian dances. World renowned luthier and master Appalachian fingerpicking guitarist Wayne Henderson shines in sessions which he thought so much of he released as a live album. The peerless Piedmont blues of John Cephas are captured for posterity in a poignant last recorded solo performance. Dazzling bluegrass is offered up by Swiss transplants the Kruger Brothers. And the list goes on.
In Your Ear offers a chance to discover new artists and appreciate the “in the moment” creativity, inspiration and soul of live music. Studio A is a “great room,” a haven for artists with intimate, friendly and informed audiences and peerless audio fidelity. Tune in to the show September 3rd at 1:00 p.m., the next best thing to being there.
Production Funding of In Your Ear is made possible, in part, by... Hohner, Inc. Musical Instruments; Wine Lovers; TKL Product Corp. Cases & Bags; Dr. David R. Beam and Associates
