VCU Creative Arts Day Camp: “Up Close and Contemporary!”
The VCU Creative Arts Day Camp is an arts-based community program offered by the VCU Department of Art Education. The goal of the program is to create a fresh, alternative learning environment that provides kids with the time and resources to engage with a variety of media, including digital media, sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more. Classes are conducted on the VCU campus, providing young students with a unique university experience. Aspiring artists are taught by undergraduate and graduate art education students in class sizes of no more than 15 students.
This summer, Creative Arts Day Camp is getting Up Close and Contemporary! Students will explore the fascinating world of contemporary art, learning about the artistic concepts, processes, and media of today. Students will use Richmond’s historic buildings as inspiration to design their own contemporary architecture, or build eco-sculpture from entirely repurposed materials.
