What Do Motorcycles and Books Have in Common?

Riders for Readers visited Enon Elementary School bringing book, t-shirts and a chance for children to sit on a motorcycle. But their main focus for the visit was to talk about the importance of reading for children not only in school, but as a hobby that can last a lifetime.

Riders for Readers started as a rotary club project which grew into a non-profit organization. Founded by Eric Engler of Velocity Motorcycles, the objective is to promote early children literacy and bring books to children that might not have an opportunity to have one of their own. Up to 40 riders at a time have visited area schools. The organization serves children in Richmond and the surrounding counties.

Behind the Scenes visited with Engler and Enon Elementary Principal Mike Crusco to talk about the program.
