Carl Cannon is the White House correspondent for the National Journal, Washingtons non-partisan weekly journal on politics and government and he is the incoming president of the White House Correspondents Association. Before joining the National Journal in May 1998, Cannon worked for six newspapers over a 20-year span including the San Jose Mercury News, Knight-Ridder Newspapers and the Baltimore Sun. At the San Jose Mercury News, he was a member of the staff that received the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Loma Prieta earthquake. Cannon is also the author of several books. Most recently, he co-authored Boy Genius: Karl Rove, the Brains behind the Remarkable Political Triumph of George W. Bush. He is also the author of The Pursuit of Happiness in Times of War, whichexplores how Thomas Jeffersons powerful phrase has been embraced by wartime presidents for two centuries. |
