Award-winning
overseas journalist Dusko Doder discusses his book, Milosevic: Portrait
of a Tyrant (Simon & Schuster, 1999), which details the history
of Slobodan Milosevic who is accused of international war crimes for his
role in the war in Kosovo and ethnic cleansing in the Balkans. Doder has
reported extensively on Soviet and Eastern European affairs for The Washington
Post, where he served in a variety of roles including East European Bureau
chief, Moscow Bureau chief, assistant foreign editor and intelligence
correspondent. He also served as Beijing correspondent for U.S. News &
World Report.
Doder has
received two Overseas Press Club awards, among others. In addition to
his latest book, he is the author of Gorbachev: Heretic in the Kremlin
(1990), Shadows and Whispers: Power Politics Inside the Kremlin from
Brezhnev to Gorbachev (1986), and The Yugoslavs (1977).
