Lawrence
Eagleburger is a noted career civil servant who served in the diplomatic
corps and federal government for over 30 years. He has received many
of the nations highest honors and awards, and has been knighted
by Queen Elizabeth II. The range of his foreign affairs experience
is vastfrom his postings to embassies in Honduras and Yugoslavia
to high-ranking posts in the departments of Defense and Stateand
spans several administrations, both Republican and Democrat. President
Bush swore in Eagleburger as U.S. Secretary of State on December 8,
1992. He is currently the chairman of the international Commission
on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims in Washington, DC. He is also senior
policy advisor for the Washington, DC firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman
and Caldwell.
