Philip B. Kunhardt

Documentary filmmaker Philip B. Kunhardt discusses his PBS documentaries on American presidents and the Meserve Collection of Abraham Lincoln images passed down in his family. Kunhardt is the writer and producer of THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, the first documentary series ever to profile all of the nation’s chief executives. It premiered on PBS in 2000.

Kunhardt is a former managing editor of LIFE magazine and the author of numerous books, including the award-winning memoir, My Father’s House, and A New Birth of Freedom: Lincoln at Gettysburg. He is also co-author of Twenty Days, the definitive account of Lincoln's assassination and its aftermath, and Lincoln: An Illustrated Biography.
