George Perkovich

George Perkovich, author of the award-winning book India’s Nuclear Bomb: The Impact on Global Proliferation (University of California Press, 1999), examines nuclear proliferation while highlighting the relationship between India and Pakistan. He discusses which countries have nuclear bombs, which can deliver them and the status of international treaties.
Perkovich has testified before both houses of Congress on South Asian security affairs and served on the 1997 Council on Foreign Relations Task Force that published “A New U.S. Policy Toward India and Pakistan.” His writing has appeared in Foreign Affairs and other publications. India’s Nuclear Bomb received the American Historical Association’s Herbert Feis Award for outstanding work by an independent scholar.
