Mark Shields is a nationally known columnist and commentator with unmatched credentials as an analyst of the U.S. political system. He is the moderator of CNN's The Capital Gang and is also seen on Evans, Novak, Hunt & Shields. For eight years, he was on THE NEWSHOUR WITH JIM LEHRER every Friday night as part of the Shields & Gigot team and is now paired with David Brooks. In addition to his work on television, Shields is the author of a syndicated column on national politics and a book titled On the Campaign Trail, which explores the 1984 presidential campaign. Before he entered journalism, Shields helped manage several political campaigns.
