Facebook Helps Fight Crime
Some 400 million Facebook users worldwide are being asked to become a Facebook ”fan” and help Virginia State Police solve crime, track down fugitives and locate missing persons.
It is a new world in crime-solving, and what could be better than millions of eyes and ears to help state police do their work.

Geller: Based on the success we were experiencing with that in getting our videos out there as well as public service announcements, we decided it was a natural step to reach out and establish a Facebook, which we did March 1.
And the first entry is the unsolved crime of Alicia Showalters Reynolds, who disappeared 14 years ago Monday, and whose body was discovered two months later. The crime was never solved. Police say, somebody knows who did it, and by reaching out via the Internet, perhaps this and other crimes will be finally solved.
Geller: In less than 24 hours we already had 700 fans on our site and are receiving some really great comments and so forth, based upon the information we posted.
