Haymore: Agriculture is about $55 billion in annual revenue to the State. Forestry generates about $24 billion annually. So you put those together, you’re right at $80 billion annually.
It is the state’s biggest business, employing some half-a-million people . Top export products were soybeans, wheat, corn, barley, leaf tobacco, wood products, meat and poultry…to counties like Canada, China, Morocco, Indonesia, Turkey and Switzerland. Both the Governor and the Secretary attended a trade conference in Norfolk yesterday where the new figures were announced.
