Two Petersburg Men Arrested in New Jersey

Two Virginia men are in jail in New Jersey and their bail has been raised to $2 million dollars.

Thirty-four-year-old Marquel Brown is charged with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault. Thirty-nine-year old Calvin Raines is facing aggravated assault and weapons charges. Both of the men are from Petersburg.

Last Monday night a police officer in Passaic, NJ, saw what he believed was a drug deal between people in two cars.  He stopped one of them in nearby Clifton and a shot was fired from inside that car; police returned fire.  Passaic Officer Braulio Barbosa was wounded in the leg. The car drove off and then collided with a pickup truck killing the passenger in that truck, 33-year-old Nathan Ferrer, from Clifton.
