Police honor local citizens
Richmond police today will honor citizens who have helped them keep law and order, and a lot more. Charles Fishburne reports.
The ceremony will honor five caring strangers, who kept a woman from jumping off the 5th Street Bridge in Feburary…holding her, and comforting her until police and emergency services arrived to pull her to safety
Other honorees include a teenage boy who testified against three violent robbers, and a radio disc jockey who encouraged her listeners to work with police.
They will all receive Service to Law Enforcement Awards this afternoon at the Richmond Police Training Academy.
Chief Brian Norwood has stressed how important is for police and community to work together and his new focus mission teams pick a problem, pick and neighborhood and go door to door to see what they can do to help. With today’s ceremonies, police honor those who have returned the favor.
