Help To Buy Pet Food
Two Chester women decided to do something to help pet owners who are having money problems afford to feed their animals.
Shellie Coleman and Erika McGee are creating Hungry Paws Pantry.
McGee: And our mission is to keep pets with their families and out of the shelters.
McGee explained that they will serve the Colonial Heights, Petersburg, Hopewell, and Prince George County area and then hope to expand with community support.
McGee: To help people who are having trouble one month, you know being able to afford pet food, that’s what Hungry Paws is there for, to help supplement food on a temporary basis.
Through their website, hungrypawspantry.webs.com, they plan to accept registrations, Coleman explained, and donations:
Coleman: We are doing the fundraiser to earn the money to be able to apply for our nonprofit status from the IRS. Once we get that we can legally start taking monetary donations.
Tomorrow from 9 to 1 they’re having a yard sale at 2706 Mistwood Forest Drive in Chester. And of course, there will be kittens and puppies available for adoption.
