Mayor schedules update on police pursuit policy.
Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones has scheduled a news conference later today, to release a review on high-speed police pursuit. Charles Fishburne reports.
City police had already reviewed their high-speed pursuit and determined to tone it down, when a pursuit that spilled over from Henrico County resulted in the death of a city pastor, who was struck at an intersection.
Jones: Richmond is an urban context with narrow streets, parked cars, an urban environment, children walking and elderly, etc.
Mayor Jones, shortly after he called for an urban summit to discuss high-speed pursuit. He asked for neighboring jurisdictions to better understand city policies and procedures, and vice versa, to try to prevent that kind of tragedy.
Today at two o’clock, the mayor has scheduled a news conference to provide an update on what has been done to accomplish that.
