EPA Wins Fight Over Regulation of Air Pollution
The United States Senate has turned back an attempt to limit the EPA’s power to further regulate air pollution from vehicles and industrial facilities. Charles Fishburne reports.
Both Virginia senators sided with the majority, to defeat a resolution to curb EPA’s growing power to regulate air pollution.
Mund: We think that it is important for the Senate to take up comprehensive legislation to deal with energy and climate during this Congress.

Mund: We think that the vote today showed that the majority of senators are looking for us to move forward on climate change protection.
Empowered by Congress, upheld by the Supreme Court, and armed with research that global warming was a growing threat, the EPA was moving toward tighter air pollution standards for vehicles and industrial facilities. The losing side in yesterday’s vote saw that as a power grab.
Mund: Climate change is happening. This was a political attempt to repudiate the science that’s been confirmed over and over again.
