Three men sentenced in cigarette conspiracy
Three people in Virginia have entered guilty pleas to conspiring to sell thousands of cartons of untaxed cigarettes in the New York City area.
Guishou Dong and brothers Rong Kai Yang and Min Hai Yang entered their pleas yesterday in federal court in Norfolk.
Dong was sentenced to thirty-seven months in prison and ordered to make restitution of more than $1.9 million dollars. The Yang brothers are going to be in court for sentencing April 5th.
Court documents indicate the three took nearly 40,000 untaxed cigarettes from Virginia to New York and sold them on the black market between 2009 and last year.
