Bugs In The Movies

Entomologist Dr. Art Evans and WCVE producer Steve Clark discuss the popularity of insects in schlocky B-films of the 1950’s and a possible inspiration for the creation of Disney's Jiminy Cricket, among other topics related to cinema and animation.
After hearing this, I was reminded of a movie I had seen that was intentionally disturbing, but oddly intriguing. The Believers is the film and the scene that came to mind is quite dramatic. A woman is halted and pained by a swollen face that eventually errupts a flow of spiders. Quite horrific. It was not a B film but as the conversation went, it came to mind. A classic horror scenario.

I really enjoy bad B-movie sci-fi films - including films that featured bugs, insects and arachnids: Them! (1954), Mothra (1961), Tarantula (1955), The Deadly Mantis (1957), Black Scorpion (1957), Empire of the Ants (1977)... that's all I can think of for now...
The Beginning of the End-grasshoppers,Rodan-starts with giant "insects",The Wasp Woman,The Swarm-killer bees,Attack of the Crab Monsters,Kingdom of the Spiders.
