First Responders Want Death Benefits Fully Funded

A coalition of first responders is asking the state to fund fully the Line of Duty Act, which pays benefits to families of fallen officers and those severely wounded while doing their jobs. Craig Carper reports.
Those elected to serve in state government and who publicly thank public safety workers for their dedication and devotion to saving lives, and then enact legislation that takes away basic protections for their families, should they give their lives or become permanently disabled while coming to the aid of people who they don't know; should be un-elected. They are to put it simply, hypocrites; saying one thing and doing another. They are not deserving of the trust placed in them. To those legislators who are up front and have little respect for public safety and are self-professed Christians; look up John 15:13 when Jesus said “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." How do you think he would feel about those that lay down their lives for strangers? Do you think he would approve of you turning your back on the families of these men and women? To all state legislators, just do the right thing and value their service and memory and provide their families with a few of the modest protections they had when they were alive.
