How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall? With the American Youth Harp Ensemble!

The story goes that the great pianist Arthur Rubinstein was in New York City and was approached by a man on the street who asked "Pardon me sir, how do I get to Carnegie Hall?" to which Rubinstein replied "Practice, practice, practice." The American Youth Harp Ensemble knows this to be true as on March 4, 2012 they will play their third concert at one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. "There is no experience that changes and shapes a young musician more profoundly than performing in a major venue such as Carnegie Hall" says Lynnelle Ediger, the ensemble's founder and artistic director. "The impact on artistic development is profound and the impact on personal development, most importantly the skills and discipline learned in preparation, shape the student for life."

So how do YOU get to Carnegie Hall? With the American Youth Harp Ensemble when they perform a Carnegie Hall Preview Concert on WCVE Public Radio, Tuesday, January 31st beginning at 2:00 p.m. The concert repertoire will include stunning arrangements of West Side Story by Bernstein, 'Anitra's Dance' from Grieg's Peer Gynt, 'Jupiter' from The Planets by Holst, 'The Great Gate of Kiev' from Pictures at an Exhibition by Moussorgsky, 'The Aquarium' from The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens and the ensemble's signature piece, 'Malaguena' from the Andalucia Suite by Lecuona to name a few highlights.

We invite you to tune in but we also have a few seats available in the studio if you would like to attend this LIVE studio event. If you would like to attend please email me at bbarajas@ideastations.org for reservations and details. I must have your seat requests no later than 5pm, Monday, January 30th.
