What the what? Can it really be the beginning of December?  I feel like I just blinked and all of the sudden, here we are. And with that, here we are discussing this week's World Music Show (12/1). Like all the many parts that make up a year--the seasons, the highs and lows of life--this week's show will be somewhat in the same vein, which means basically a mix-up of genres and styles. In fact, to beat this comparison a tad longer, the show may be little like one long run-on sentence, ala a Jack Kerouac novel. 

Listen: I don' t want to knock any references to this fine holiday. Nor do I want to mock any references to my fine blues-filled colleagues who may present some tuneful leftovers. My conundrum for this week's World Music Show (11/24) or really for this week's blog, is to come up with a witty title that gives a special nod to the season, while still retaining the ethos of world beats. 

Don't worry. I'm not goint to arbitrarily list this week's World Music Show (11/17) in alphabetical order--that would be nearly impossible and quite the stretch (though, I may use this idea at a later date, so don't hold it against me). However, I will say, to stretch this particular theme, that this week's show does push the boundaries in terms of musical global outposts. Sure, one-to-two themed shows are a good way to exlpore a region or a particular artist or two. But, really, variety is the spice of life, as the cliché goes. 

Hold your horses. I'll get to the meaning of the title in just a bit. But you can probably guess that it referes to something deep on this week's World Music Show (11/10). Let's start with the latter part of the headline--"Other Sounds" first, becuase those are easier to explain. And it's quite a mixed-bag throughout the two hours, as well. It'll be as if we've hit the Frappé button on the world musical blender.
