This American Life: Live in Movie Theaters May 10

This American Life

This American Life is coming (AGAIN) to a movie theatre near you. In 2009, more than 50,000 This American Life fans attended live TAL digital cinema events in 430 movie theaters nationwide. TAL heard from many stations and listeners, asking when will the radio program make a return to movie theatres. So...

On Thursday, May 10, 2012 TAL will present a unique live event. This American Life - Things You Can't do on the Radio is a one-time only live show featuring host Ira Glass with musicians, comedians, dancers and more, on stage at the Skirball Center in New York. The show will take the sensibility of the radio program and apply it to the performing arts, for an evening of This American Life that’s too visual to ever fit on the radio. The show will be transmitted LIVE in HD via satellite to more than 500 movie theaters across the country. Regal Virginia Center 20 in Glen Allen will be the local host theater for this year’s event. You can purchase tickets at the theater or call (800) 326.3264 (Fandango). Hurry - tickets are expected to go fast.

Can’t make it to the live cinema event? It will repeat on May 17 at the Modlin Center for the Arts.

Last year’s event was a huge success:

TAL Sweepstakes: See it Live in Person!
This American Life is offering a sweepstakes and anyone who submits a pledge during our current WCVE Public Radio Membership Campaign will automatically be entered. The sweepstakes will draw from a nation-wide pool of participating radio stations and will award two (2) grand prize winners with travel accommodations and tickets for two (2) to attend the digital cinema event LIVE at NYC's Skirball Theater.

You don’t have to purchase anything to enter (a pledge of support) but we hope you will consider becoming a member anyway. Click here to enter the contest only.

I love This American Life. Thanks for doing this upcoming show. I didn't get a chance to see the first one.
