Ken Burns’s The Civil War to Air in April

The Civil War began April 1861 and ended April 1865. Appropriately, on the 150th anniversary of the beginning of America's Civil War, PBS will re-broadcast Ken Burns's entire landmark 1990 series. Burns's epic documentary brings to life America's most destructive--and defining--conflict. The Civil War is the saga of celebrated generals and ordinary soldiers, a heroic and transcendent president and a country that had to divide itself in two in order to become one.
The series will air Sunday, April 3 through Thursday, April 7, 2011, 8:00 pm on WCVE PBS.
Detailed episode descriptions and archival Civil War images can be accessed from the website of The Civil War, A Film by Ken Burns. Educators will find the "In the Classroom" feature a great aid with lesson plans, activities, and resources.
