“Nobody can learn until they are ready to learn”   - Fred Rogers

Ready To Learn is PBS’s nationwide effort to ensure that our children are prepared for educational success. Locally, the Community Idea Stations is extending the value of children’s educational television through local workshops for parents and early childhood educators to help them use PBS KIDS programs as teaching tools with the children in their care.

What is Ready To Learn?

Ready To Learn is . . .

  • A daily line-up of non-violent, commercial free, educational children’s television programming.

  • Educational messages between programs that urge children to be creative, curious, cooperative, and responsible learners.

  • Free educational workshops designed to extend the value of children’s educational television by helping parents, childcare providers, and K-2 teachers use PBS KIDS programs as teaching tools.

  • Supplementary support materials for children and adults, including a wide variety of online learning resources.

  • The distribution of free children’s books and PBS Families magazine.
