Graves Mountain
Lodge is a family-owned and operated mountain retreat.
An on-site
cannery produces apple butter, applesauce, preserves and jellies. The
products are used at the lodge restaurant and are available for purchase.
A mail order catalog is also availalble.
Hour long
and full-day horseback rides are offered at the Graves Mountain stables.
Rides take you across streams, open fields and through woods. Stalls and/or
camping is available for privately owned horses.
An Apple
Harvest Festival (October 14-15 and October 21-22, 2006) offers food,
bluegrass music, arts and crafts and hayrides.
A variety
of overnight accomodations are available to suit everyones needs
from motels to old farm houses to log cabins.

Anniversary Garden

Virginia
will mark the 400th anniversary of Jamestown during 2007.
Virginia
Cooperative Extension has developed the Americas Anniversary Garden
to help individuals, communities and groups mark America's 400th Anniversary
with a signature garden.
Signature
gardens will have red, white and blue color schemes.
Several
publications are available through your local Extension Office which include
suggested plants to give you the red, white and blue designs.
Publications
also include suggested designs of annual or perennial beds ranging from
a 30 inch wide container garden to an 8 ft. X 10 ft. landscape area which
includes a small tree, shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
