Star magnolia, Magnolia stellata
This large shrub or small tree is deciduous and grows to a mature height of approximately 30 feet with a crown spread of 20 feet. It’s white flowers emerge in March and are short lived due to late spring frosts. The trunk and major brances are hardy, well developed, gray in color and smooth in texture. It’s ideal use in the landscape is as small specimen tree for early spring color.
