Summer evenings
are a great time to enjoy your garden.
When designing
a garden for the evening, consider grey colored foliage, such as lavender
and lambs ear. Also, white and yellow flowers tend to stand out in the
evening garden.
Hardscapes
and small water features can add an interesting dimension to the garden
anytime of day, but particularly in the quiet of the evening garden.
Fragrant
plants such as herbs, gardenia and roses often seem even more striking
in the garden after 5.

Viburnums
are a large group of shrubs, ranging in size from just a few feet tall
to as much as twenty feet.
They may
be deciduous or evergreen, depending on the variety.
Viburnum
are native to Virginia and consequently are well adapted to the climatic
conditions here. They are also quite pest resistant.
Viburnum
are popular for many of their characteristics including fragrant spring
blooms, attractive fruit and vibrant fall color on the deciduous varieties.
Micheal
Dirr, the woody plant expert and author of the Manual of Woody Ornamentals
has said that no garden is complete without at least one viburnum. |
