Dear May Lily;
Thank you for compiling such a wonderful tribute to your father. He is greatly missed. I had the wonderful fortune of driving Mr. Lee around. Before he gave up his car to Flo he cut back on driving because of medical issue he no longer wanted to drive distances in traffic. We drove AROUND, to visit the sick, drive friends to appointments in Baltimore just to have dine at the Lexington Market, take gifts to his many friends, attend functions such as business or Chinese community lunches, funerals or memorial services, yard sales or hardware store shopping, medical, eye and dental appointments; voting in local and presidential elections and of course the pool daily until the last year of his life when he started cutting back on his physical activity. I was blessed by his kind, gentle nature. He always listen to what everyone had to say; if they expressed a need or concern of any kind and if it was in his ability, he would find a way to help that person fulfill the need. Whether, it was just an article on how to repair or replace something, an article on a medical issue plaguing someone, or a basket of fruit, his generosity and thoughtfulness was probably his best attribute. Thanks again.
It's been awhile. Didn't know your father and only know the daughter a little, but now "I know the rest of the story" or at least a chapter or two. You still remain one of my favorite people! Best, Randy Herring
Thank you May Lily, also love Virginia Currents!
Dear May Lily,
It was great to reminisce with H.K., your father, about a full life. Loved it. So sorry that he is "gone" from this planet, but his gentle spirit is immortalized, beautiful, inspirational. Another fabulous story of an American Immigrant, and a wonderful life, shared. Thank you, for all you share on "Virginia Currents" with us, your other "big fans."
Love and peace,
Your friends,
Margaret & Jim Woody
In this world of superficiality and materialism, HK was the "real" thing! Of the myriad of H's virtues such as generosity, simplicity, devotion, honesty, H was the most genuine human being I knew - genuine in his gentle kindness to everyone whose lives he touched and joyful in his uncomplaining demeanor, no matter how life was testing him.
I knew H for over 5 decades and though we had become separated by thousands of miles, I always felt his loving welcome whenever we had a chance to meet. I miss him and always will for the rest of my life.
Thank you May Lily for this beautiful and fitting tribute to this wonderful father, husband, friend, man!
