Listening to the program on old roses at Monticello brought me back twenty years to when I had 300 old garden roses in my yard in Mississippi and corresponded regularly with Leonie Bell in Pennsylvania. She was quite knowledgeable and we had some serious discussions about "found" roses. Fond memories, thank you.
This is a fabulous interview with Dennis Whetzel at the nursery of Monticello's Center for Historic Plants, and it was filmed at a perfect time for the roses. Beautiful. Thanks for making this available.
The roses were beautiful indeed. We enjoy visiting Tufton's lovely gardens and sharing them with the viewers of "Virginia Home Grown." -Shawn, Producer/Director
